Scholarships

The Carter Richardson Memorial Scholarship
This merit-based award is a $5,000, one-time scholarship. The scholarship recognition will be presented at the National Technical Investigators’ Association’s Annual Training Conference and Technology Exhibition.

Who is Eligible?
The dependent children of any active or retired member of a NATIA chapter who is in the twelfth grade or enrolled as a full or part time student in an accredited college program, or any active member of a NATIA chapter who is in an accredited college program, may apply for the scholarship.

Application Process
Candidates must complete the application and in addition submit:

  1. Two letters of recommendation, one from each of the following:
        • (a) a school or community official AND
        • (b) a law enforcement official (supervisory for currently employed NATIA members).
  2. A 250-word (minimum) essay on “What significance I place on technology in law enforcement
    investigations.”
  3. Candidate’s high school transcripts or college transcripts if the candidate is attending an accredited
    college.

**ALL THREE REQUIREMENTS MUST BE SENT IN ORDER FOR THE APPLICATION TO BE REVIEWED**

Deadline
The application and supporting documentation must be received no later than June 26th of each year.

Selection Process
The selection will be conducted by a panel of law enforcement executives at NATIA’s National Conference and the recipients will be notified there or soon after.
